A Restaurant Guy

“I’ve told so many people that [Restaurant Guys Radio] is basically Car Talk for Food, and I mean that in the most positive way. I don’t know how often you guys listen to Car Talk but that’s quite a compliment.” >> Listen: hi | lo

Dale DeGroff

Talk about a bad idea! Mark and Francis have fun reading a recent scathing review of Ninja New York, a very expensive theme restaurant. With tasting menus ate $80 - $200 per person, Mark expects a clean menu and a server that doesn't tumble!

They Guys welcome back Dale DeGroff, the worlds preeminent bartender (mixologist). For year's he was the head bartender at New York's famed Rainbow Room. Dale is known as "The King of Cocktails," and is perhaps more responsible than anyone for the renaissance of the cocktail worldwide. "10% of what a bartender does is about being a great drink maker. The rest is about knowing what is hot and what is not, trying to figure out if the girl wants this guy talking to her, knowing the best restaurant, club, hamburger in the neighborhood and sometimes telling someone in a nice way they've had a little too much to drink." The bar can be an enriching part of our culture and the barman (woman) is an important part of that. Dale also has some tips for setting up a bar at home.

Now a consultant and educator, Dale has founded the Museum of the American Cocktail.

The Restaurant Guys

Who Are The Restaurant Guys? Every week, Francis Schott and Mark Pascal host the Restaurant Guys, a show that's as informative as it is fun. Francis and Mark own Stage Left Restaurant in the heart of New Brunswick's theatre district, and, along with their expertise in a wide range of fine dining and wine matters, they bring to the table humor and intelligent conversation, perfect for the midday listener. The show includes discussions and interviews with famous chefs, restaurateurs, wine and food writers, critics; and the Guys even give stuff away occasionally.
