A Restaurant Guy

“I’ve told so many people that [Restaurant Guys Radio] is basically Car Talk for Food, and I mean that in the most positive way. I don’t know how often you guys listen to Car Talk but that’s quite a compliment.” >> Listen: hi | lo

Caffeine; James Cahill, Mayor of New Brunswick, NJ

Caffeinated energy drinks are the fastest-growing sector of the $93 billion domestic beverage industry, but are some youths hooked? Mark and Francis talk about the boom in energy drinks and the manufacturers of these products. Here's some food for thought: Sobe's "No Fear" energy drink has three times the caffeine of a regular soda. It uses the slogan "meet your new addiction."

The city of New Brunswick is a shinning example of urban renewal. The Guys welcome Mayor James Cahill to the show to talk about the revitalization of The Hub City. Two organizations have been essential in this process: New Brunswick Tomorrow focuses on social programs and issues while The New Brunswick Development Corporation (DEVCO) focuses on construction and development projects. Also essential: the lively restaurant and arts scene that has made New Brunswick a destination for the surrounding communities.

The Restaurant Guys

Who Are The Restaurant Guys? Every week, Francis Schott and Mark Pascal host the Restaurant Guys, a show that's as informative as it is fun. Francis and Mark own Stage Left Restaurant in the heart of New Brunswick's theatre district, and, along with their expertise in a wide range of fine dining and wine matters, they bring to the table humor and intelligent conversation, perfect for the midday listener. The show includes discussions and interviews with famous chefs, restaurateurs, wine and food writers, critics; and the Guys even give stuff away occasionally.
