A Restaurant Guy

“I’ve told so many people that [Restaurant Guys Radio] is basically Car Talk for Food, and I mean that in the most positive way. I don’t know how often you guys listen to Car Talk but that’s quite a compliment.” >> Listen: hi | lo

The Year of The Cocktail

So Francis had a great time in New York with dinner at Hearth and Cocktails at Angel's Share. Mark on the other hand was hoping to have a nice dinner with his lovely wife Jen. Staying close to home (what with four kids) Mark and Jen went to a nearby (nameless) Italian restaurant where:

They were not seated for their 9 pm reservation until 9:55 (no apologies or explanation),

Mark was seated in the aisle where he was repeated kicked by passing waiters (no apologies), and

They were presented the bill with the appetizers and wine they had and paid for at the bar added a second time to their dinner check (no apologies).

Sounds like Francis had the more enjoyable evening!

Kate Krader a Senior Editor at Food & Wine magazine, returns to talk to The Guys about Food and Wines "Year of the Cocktail". She researched and edited Food and Wine's "Cocktails 2006" book. Trends in cocktails include making your own ingredients such as syrups, tinctures and infused spirits; and using herbs in cocktails such as a gin & tonic with tarragon. The show ends with some recommendations on great cocktail bars in New York.

The Restaurant Guys

Who Are The Restaurant Guys? Every week, Francis Schott and Mark Pascal host the Restaurant Guys, a show that's as informative as it is fun. Francis and Mark own Stage Left Restaurant in the heart of New Brunswick's theatre district, and, along with their expertise in a wide range of fine dining and wine matters, they bring to the table humor and intelligent conversation, perfect for the midday listener. The show includes discussions and interviews with famous chefs, restaurateurs, wine and food writers, critics; and the Guys even give stuff away occasionally.
