A Restaurant Guy

“I’ve told so many people that [Restaurant Guys Radio] is basically Car Talk for Food, and I mean that in the most positive way. I don’t know how often you guys listen to Car Talk but that’s quite a compliment.” >> Listen: hi | lo

Dale Degroff

The Guys welcome back Dale DeGroff, the worlds preeminent bartender (mixologist), this time from Shinn Vineyards on Long Island. For years he was the head bartender at New York's famed Rainbow Room. Dale is known as "The King of Cocktails," and is perhaps more responsible than anyone for the renaissance of the cocktail worldwide. "10% of what a bartender does is about being a great drink maker. The rest is about knowing what is hot and what is not, trying to figure out if the girl wants this guy talking to her, knowing the best restaurant, club, hamburger in the neighborhood and sometimes telling someone in a nice way they've had a little too much to drink." The bar can be an enriching part of our culture and the barman/woman is an important part of that. Dale also has some tips for setting up a bar at home.

The Restaurant Guys

Who Are The Restaurant Guys? Every week, Francis Schott and Mark Pascal host the Restaurant Guys, a show that's as informative as it is fun. Francis and Mark own Stage Left Restaurant in the heart of New Brunswick's theatre district, and, along with their expertise in a wide range of fine dining and wine matters, they bring to the table humor and intelligent conversation, perfect for the midday listener. The show includes discussions and interviews with famous chefs, restaurateurs, wine and food writers, critics; and the Guys even give stuff away occasionally.
