Next Iron Chefs: Marou Ouattara and Gavin Kaysen
Morou is the chef and owner of Farrah Olivia Restaurant in Alexandria, Virgina. Growing up on the Ivory Coast, Morou's first inspiration in the kitchen came from his mother. Combining African, French and Middle Eastern flavors, he calls his style "American with an accent." Mr. Ouattara moved to the United States in 1988 where he found his true calling of cooking. He is here today to discuss his time spent on The Food Network's reality competition show: The Next Iron Chef.
Chef Gavin Kaysen (Born in Thousand Oaks, CA; 1979)of El Bizcocho Restaurant at Rancho Bernardo Inn in San Diego fresh from competing in the finals of the prestigious Bocuse d'Or World Culinary Contest has been named one of Food & Wine magazine's Best New Chefs for 2007. Kaysen's California-influenced French cuisine has made El Bizcocho one of the top-rated restaurants in San Diego. Kaysen's short but fruitful career has groomed him well for the accolades he is now receiving. He is here today to discuss his time spent on The Food Network's reality competition show: The Next Iron Chef and to give us breaking news: he's coming to New York as the Executive Chef of Cafe Boulud.
