A Restaurant Guy

“I’ve told so many people that [Restaurant Guys Radio] is basically Car Talk for Food, and I mean that in the most positive way. I don’t know how often you guys listen to Car Talk but that’s quite a compliment.” >> Listen: hi | lo

Jean Luc Le Du

As the long-time sommelier at Restaurant Danielle in New York, Jean Luc Le Du was one of the best-known sommelier in the country. He has now left the restaurant business for the retail world. This is something The Guys did many years ago (and from which they beat a hasty retreat back to restaurant-land). Jean Luc has opened a wine shop in lower Manhattan that has immediately joined the ranks of the very best places to buy wine in New York City. The Guys talk to Jean Luc about wine and the importance of getting to know a wine maker and taste the wine in the place where it was made, about the differences between wine in a retail and a restaurant setting. Mark and Francis also reminisce about the trip to Italy several years ago where they first met Jean Luc. Jean Luc is a great guy and you would do well to visit his store any time you are in New York. His French accent is pretty cool too.
