Beth Lowell of Oceana
Oceana campaigns to protect and restore the world's oceans. Among their current campaigns, Oceana is fighting to see that House of Representatives Resolution 38-24 recently passed the House by a vote of 229-193 is not passed by the Senate. This bill makes considerable changes to the act which is credited with helping to save such species as the bald eagle and piping plover from extinction. Environmental groups including Oceana are crying foul over changes to the 1973 Endangered Species Act recently passed by the U.S. House of Representatives. They say those changes will eliminate many of the federal protections afforded to species threatened with extinction. Beth Lowell of Oceana talks to Mark and Francis about the impact of this bill if it passes the Senate and the need to protect all species of wildlife.
